I’ve always loved setting my friends up and helping people find genuine connections. The idea for this business actually started when I wanted to set up my mother-in-law – and in the process, I realized something bigger: there are so many wonderful people in Santa Cruz looking for love (or even just a great conversation), but they just need a little push to meet each other.
Dating in Santa Cruz can be tricky – it’s such a laid-back, independent town where a lot of people are happy doing their own thing. That’s great, but it can make finding a real partner (or even new single friends) harder than it should be. I wanted to create something that brings people together face-to-face – no apps, no algorithms, just real conversations between real people.
Our events are open, inclusive, and designed for all ages. Matchbook is a personalized matchmaking service designed for people who want more intentional connections than speed dating allows.
Instead of relying on quick impressions or chance encounters, you’ll fill out a detailed questionnaire about who you are, what you’re looking for, and what really matters to you. From there, I keep my eyes open at events and within the community for people I genuinely think could be a good fit.
When I believe there’s a strong potential match, I’ll send you a short profile with the basics. You decide whether you’d like to meet them—no pressure, no awkwardness.
